Ball & After Party

Let's Celebrate!!!

The Krewe of Nereids is the oldest Mardi Gras Krewe on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  In mythology, Nereids are sea nymphs (or female spirits of the sea), the 50 daughters of Doris and Nereus.  There are more than 50 mermaid sisters in the Krewe of Nereids. Near and dear to us are the men and other non-members who are part of our family.

Annually, the Krewe hosts a Ball at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum. The Ball introduces our new Queen Doris, her Court, and Consort, King Nereus.  The previous Queen Doris, along with her Consort and Court, formally pass the scepter to the new Queen.  The Krewe celebrates the crowning of the new Queen with music and dance routines based on the theme of the current season.  The Ball is a magical evening of fun, entertainment, and majesty in the tradition of the original New Orleans Mardi Gras Krewes.

The Ball is invitation only; invitations are available through Krewe Members or you can request an invitation by sending an email to nereidssupperdance@gmail.com.  There is no cost to attend the Ball.  However, the Ball is a black-tie event: tuxedos, dress uniforms, floor-length gowns, etc. are required.

Immediately following the Ball, the Krewe hosts an After-Party (traditionally called a Supper Dance), at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum. The After Party includes dancing, a live band, a breakfast buffet, and a cash bar.  Tickets to the After Party are $100 per person and available by contacting nereidssupperdance@gmail.com.
